Kohala Middle School 8th Grade Promotion Wednesday, May 30th starting at 5:00 p.m. to Pau

This year, as in past years, students and families are invited to watch a slide show created by Mr. Chris Michaelis (approx. 30 minutes) after the ceremony. 

 

What's New: After the ceremony, and alongside the slideshow, we will host an Ohana Night to honor our promoting 8th graders. This will be a shared potluck dinner. Kohala Middle School will provide water and paper/plastics goods (cups,plates, napkins, forks, etc.) We're asking, if can, families please bring a dish to share, we need your help! 8th Grade Bonding Following the slideshow 8th graders are invited to stay for their last bonding 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Parents and families may leave or enjoy refreshments and create a special arts and crafts project to honor their promoting student in the school library and A7.

 

Kohala High School 2018 Summer Bridge Program June 12-July 6, 2018, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Kohala High School is offering a Farm to Table summer program. Obligations - Students will need to clear any outstanding obligations and lunch loans before they can pick up their class schedules.

 

Lockers If you want to sign-up for a locker, you must bring in a lock (combination or key) at registration with a completed locker contract signed by a parent or legal guardian.

 

Resource - Resource period allows students to explore and engage in different non-curricular areas of interests.  Sign-up for your fall Resource period will be done during registration.

 

Yearbooks - Money for yearbooks will be collected at registration, but as a separate fee.  The cost is Basic - $45, Deluxe - $50 (includes name imprint) before school begins. From October 1, 2018 the cost will increase.  Make a separate check payable to: Kohala High School (memo: Yearbook)

 

Meal Applications -  Free and reduced price meal applications for SY 18-19 are being accepted on-line at

ezmealapp.com  from July 16, 2018.  Paper applications are not required if applying on-line. Pre-sale deposits will be accepted based on your meal status at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.

Your meal status will carry over the first 30 days or until status is determined.

 

Bus Transportation -  Pre-sale bus applications/payments will be accepted.  Checks should be made payable to:  Department of Education. Bus coupons may be purchased with cash only (exact amount).  No refunds. Your bus status will carry over the first 30 days or until the new lunch status is determined.

 

New Student Registration – July 16, 2018.  Bring release form and records from previous school if transferring.  Call for appointments at 889-7117.

 

9th Grade – There will be a 9th grade student/parent meeting on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from

5:00 - 7:00pm in the library.

 

Student Packets will be distributed on the first day of school.  This contains valuable information for parents and students (emergency card, lunch application, media release, school calendar, SPED info,  sign-off sheet, etc.)  This needs to be signed and returned to the school.

 

Parking – If you plan on bringing a vehicle on campus, each car must be registered with the school.  We require the following:  school parking form, current driver’s license, registration, insurance card, and $5.00.  Parking registration will be held at the beginning of school.  Unauthorized vehicles on campus will be towed at the owner’s expense.
